Ambien

Now, Rep. Kennedy, who ran into a capitol barricade at 2 a.m. this morning and stumbled out claiming he was late for a vote is claiming he wasn’t drinking but was disoriented from prescription medication he had taken. Most notably amongst the two drugs is the sleeping medication Ambien.

Even as I write this, there are unconfirmed reports that Patrick Kennedy will enter rehab (for a sleeping pill addiction or alcoholism?)

My neuroscience lecture on sleep made the claim that Ambien is the third most common prescription drug found in drivers stopped for recklessness. The more I think about it, the less impressive that seems. But the point is, Ambien + Driving is becoming a big concern. Including incidents of sleep driving.
