Stop Smoking Now!

I got through respiratory path a while ago. I was sent to Healthbolt today for a kind’ve anti-smoking ad post they have up (H/T Reddit)

They’re right. One of the things that make smoking cessation efforts so important is that stoping can actually do you a lot of good. It is not like if you have a huge pack year history that you cannot do yourself a lot of good by quiting now.

For instance, FEV1 is the amount of air you can force yourself to expire in one second. It is an important measurement of lung function. Now everyone loses FEV1 over time as they age, although the rate of decline is of some contention. What is not in contention is that the rate of loss of forced expiratory volume for a smoker is greatly increased.


Quiting Changes The Slope Of The Decline
